Cell wall–associated effectors of plant-colonizing fungi

نویسندگان

چکیده

Plant-colonizing fungi secrete a cocktail of effector proteins during colonization. After secretion, some these effectors are delivered into plant cells to directly dampen the immune system or redirect host processes benefitting fungal growth. Other function in apoplastic space either as released modulating activity enzymes associated with defense bound cell wall. For such wall–bound effectors, we know particularly little about their molecular function. In this review, describe that wall and discuss how they contribute

Two cytoplasmic effectors of Phytophthora sojae regulate plant cell death via interactions with plant catalases.

Plant pathogenic oomycetes, such as Phytophthora sojae, secrete an arsenal of host cytoplasmic effectors to promote infection. We have shown previously that P. sojae PsCRN63 (for crinkling- and necrosis-inducing proteins) induces programmed cell death (PCD) while PsCRN115 blocks PCD in planta; however, they are jointly required for full pathogenesis. Here, we find that PsCRN63 alone or PsCRN63 ...

Epigenetic control of effectors in plant pathogens

Plant pathogens display impressive versatility in adapting to host immune systems. Pathogen effector proteins facilitate disease but can become avirulence (Avr) factors when the host acquires discrete recognition capabilities that trigger immunity. The mechanisms that lead to changes to pathogen Avr factors that enable escape from host immunity are diverse, and include epigenetic switches that ...
